My Journey So Far

Founding Sheffield Talent Solutions

From 2017 to 2018, I had the opportunity to partner with a company in Sheffield, UK and supply blue collar workers. As I reviewed their applications, I was struck by the diversity in the way they presented themselves. Some CVs were handwritten, others were typed with an all-capital and all-bold font, and still others used an online system that formatted them terribly. This made me realize that our local job seekers needed help.

I knew then that I had to act. I founded Sheffield Talent Solutions to support local blue-collar workers gain employment. To help them as best I could, I learnt everything about personal branding, career branding, and career development. I read every book, attended numerous courses and workshops, and engaged with global thought leaders. I then combined what I learned with my 10 years of experience recruiting for leading global companies to create best practices, which empowered people to attain paid jobs across South Yorkshire.

Then came the pandemic. The world went remote, and my international network of professionals needed help too. Many were made redundant and had to manage a tremendous amount of stress and uncertainty. I knew then that I had to support a bigger audience and offer more modern solutions to my network of professionals and executives. I began to support professionals in Ireland, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy.

Relying purely on word of mouth, my reputation continues to grow internationally, and I am now supporting professionals in over 20 countries across Europe and North America.

I am thrilled to announce that I was awarded Most Supportive Career Branding Service at The Corporate Social Responsibility Awards 2022. The Corporate Social Responsibility Awards 2022 recognises the growing importance of ethical and environmentally conscious business practices worldwide.

My mission is to support professionals to build their career brands, showcase their skills, and create meaningful career opportunities. My vision is to create a world where everyone has the skills and resources they need to pursue their career dreams and make a positive impact in the world.

Your Career Optimiser Joins British Association of CV Writers

What is The British Association of CV Writers?

CV writing isn’t regulated in the UK and this makes it hard for job seekers to identify good CV writers that will help them secure that all-important interview.

If you’re a self-employed, independent CV writer, especially if you work alone, there isn’t a strong community in the UK to share ideas, best practice, and generally collaborate.

To address both issues, the British Association of CV Writers (BACVW) was founded.

The BACVW is a not-for-profit unincorporated association with the intention of building a community for CV writers and enabling its members to share best practice, ideas, experience, and information, to gain different perspectives, encourage each other, and build relationships with fellow CV writers.

All this ultimately means that members provide a better service to their clients and jobseekers are protected from CV writers who might not have the values or ethics that the BACVW promotes.

Their key aims are to:

Ensure that anyone who employs the services of a BACVW member has the assurance that they have passed a rigorous cv writing test and have agreed to our code of ethics
Provide a welcoming community for CV writers to learn and share.

The long term vision for Your Career Optimiser is to become a leading voice in how career branding can help good people to have great careers. By becoming a leading voice, I can ensure more people get access to the right information.

As mentioned above, CV writing is not regulated in the UK. That means job seekers have a challenging time in learning what the best practices are for writing their own career branding. At present, what is right or wrong is incredibly subjective and there is a lot of conflicting opinions that job seekers have to filter through.

By joining BACVW, Your Career Optimiser gets to work alongside leading Career Coaches to develop best practices that helps the next generation of job seekers. I can challenge the status quo in modernising how career branding is delivered ensure that more people get access to the right information for their career.

Members are then required to attend regular meetings where knowledge and best pracitces are exchanged.
